Thursday Ten:

  1. Squeezed in a 5k run right before a day full of heavy down-pouring. Really pushed myself to PR and got pretty freaking close! 5k time was 22:02 and my fastest yet was 21:30! My goal is to get to 20!
  2. Keeping the whole fitness talk going, I also banged out some kettle bell exercises which i currently love/hate.
  3. Cold showers after a sweaty work out sesh have to be on my list of top favorite things.
  4. Today was Senior prom at my old high school. It marks two years since I , myself, attended prom. A wonderful night shared among my greatest of childhood friends. Wild to think that two years ago,  I was a completely different person, slowly but surely transitioning ( or shimmying)  into the woman I am today.
  5. Enjoyed a home cooked meal with the company of my Daddio. Grilled salmon, roasted sweet peppers and veggie quinoa. Yes please.
  6. Went to the nail salon with my Mamma today to get pedicures but were rescheduled due to a miscommunication of appointments.( I was not pleased) Instead, came home and got my nails painted for free from one hot mamma. Did I mention how much I adore both my parents?
  7. Lounged in  bed and pondered about life things. All while keeping my anxiety from cartwheeling off my chest. ( I think the coconut candle burning helped.)
  8. Got an email from an old friend whom I miss very dearly. Always a pleasure to read that sweet man’s words.
  9. Dug into a huge colorful fruit salad and picked at only the grapes and pineapples.
  10. Today marks 20 days till Bonaroo and that is entirely too exciting.

little things:

  • Laying in bed with Mamma every Monday night  to watch Bates Motel.( which I totally recommend!)
  • Being caressed by the sun and consequently looking more and more like a latina.
  • Sweet words from strangers.
  • Sitting in a lawn chair watching my dad cut the grass and thinking ” wow, I  am lucky”.
  • Dipping my tulip-painted toes into the cool cholorine for the first time of the year.
  • Being able to run four miles and thanking my body with nourishing it well.
  • 20 percent tips

Look what I just got in the mail! Can not wait to put it to use!

Look what I just got in the mail! Can not wait to put it to use!

I suppose I write for the same reason a mother measures her wide-grinned children by the door frame.  To be able to look back at my life and make sure that I’ve grown some; mark the places where I’ve grown the most. And to look back and smile at all the crooked lines that now look like a ladder to where i am today.

Even if you are a small forest surviving off of moon alone, your light is extraordinary.

Weekend recap:

  • Enjoyed a couple of sweet-tasting drinks with two of my very favorite people. I learned that Tequila and tobasco shots are quite possibly the worst/best alliteration. Also, trying to decide whether our level of incoherence was a super good thing or a mildly what-were-we-thinking thing.
  • Celebrated my Mama’s day with my family with an early morning breakfast at Ihop on Sunday morning, then followed by an exhausting 11 hour shift. Lots of happy moms, crazed toddlers, wide-eyed babies, and hungry tummies to tend to.Last-call at the bar is obligatory after a tiresome all-too-long shift, by the way.
  • Finally made my Schedule for the Fall semester. Not elated about it, but excited that I am one step closer to taking the next step towards my future.
  • Purchased Raw-Revolution bars and finally got my hands on Quest bars. My taste buds are applauding.
  • Saw the Great Gatsby and couldn’t contain my heart-eyes. Great movie derived from an even greater novel. Still trying to comprehend which is better; Leonardo Dicaprio or Gatsby OR the fact that Leo plays one hunky Gatsby, hm, I think both.
  • Currently lounging in bed, staring out of my skylight and into the sunlight, while listening to the Great Gatsby soundtrack. (A+)
  • Life is swell.
